February 21st-27th
We continue our John studies by looking at Jesus’ response to the unbelief of His hearers [John 10:22-42]. The following readings encourage us to examine our own responses to Jesus.
Monday
John 10: 22,23
What is the context of this discussion? What is “the Feast of Dedication”? What/whom is being dedicated? [hint: It has to do with Hanukkah]
Tuesday
John 10:22-30
What is the key question asked of Jesus? How does Jesus answer? What is the great promise that Jesus offers those who believe?
Wednesday
John 10:31-33
This is the clearest statement of Jesus claim to deity. Certainly Jesus’ hearers understood the intent of His words. Why is impossible to separate Jesus’ “signs” from His “statements/claims”…
Thursday
John 10:34-39
What additional support for His claim does Jesus give to His hearers?
Friday
John 10:40-42
There is a huge contrast between the response of the people of Jerusalem and those “across the Jordan”. What accounts for this disparity? Why is it that “religious people” often have the most difficult time “hearing” Jesus?
Saturday
John 10:22-42
Review this section and compare it to the healing of the blind (from birth) man of John 9 and Jesus’ response to the Pharisees [10:1-21]. What statement is John making about Jesus’ works and words?
Sunday
John 10:22-42
In preparation for today’s message what does Jesus say about “His sheep”? How will you prepare your hearts to “hear [His] voice”?
