March 7th - 13th

“I am the Good Shepherd” - March 13
This week’s “going deeper” verses are John 10:11-21. Jesus has just proclaimed that he is the gate and, continuing to use a metaphor all Middle Eastern people understood, He now speaks of Himself as the good shepherd. The Old Testament is full of references to God as a shepherd. How does Jesus use this concept to speak to the people and to us?

Monday – Read John 10:11-21.
According to Jesus’ words, what makes the shepherd good? What does the good shepherd do?

Tuesday – Re-read John 10:11-21.
What is the relationship between the sheep and the good shepherd? How does this apply in my life?

Wednesday – Psalm 23.
David knew both shepherding and God well. What can I praise God for today as I read this familiar song?

Thursday – Isaiah 40:9-11.
What is the good news? How does the shepherd treat the sheep and what do we learn about God?

Friday – Jeremiah 31:10-13.
Once again God is like a shepherd—what are God’s desires for His people? What is the result of His “good” shepherding?

Saturday – Ezekiel 34:11-16.
What does God do in response to the bad shepherding of Israel? How did God care for them and now for us? How do these verses expand my understand of God’s care?

Sunday – Mark 6:34; Hebrews 13:19-21; 1 Peter 2:24-25.
Jesus is our great and good shepherd! How has He shown His care for me? How does this enable my worship today?
