Daily Devotionals

March 14th - 20th
We resume our John studies by looking at the first part of Jesus’ raising of Lazarus from the dead (John 11:1-37). The readings below help to prepare us for next week’s message.

Monday
John 11:1-6
What message does Jesus receive? What do you make of Jesus’ comment on this message?

Tuesday
John 11:7-16
What is the disciples’ response to Jesus’ words? Why do they misunderstand both His comment and His commitment to His friends?

Wednesday
John 11:17-22
How does Martha “greet” Jesus? What is her opinion of Jesus’ delay? Where have you questioned God’s timing of your requests to Him?

Thursday
John 11:23-27
What do you make of Martha’s faith? How is it true that we (like Martha) can trust in Jesus for “eventual” issues but don’t trust Him for “right now” issues?

Friday
John 11:28-28-32
In what way(s) is Mary’s response similar/different from Martha’s?

Saturday
John 11:33-37
What do you make of Jesus’ responses (cf. notice v. 33 “deeply moved” & v. 35 “wept”)? What situations cause similar reactions on your part?

Sunday
John 11:1-37
Review and consider afresh how Jesus models the best kind of humanity in the face of His friends’ grief?
