Fears of nuclear disaster keep Japan in news headlines. Missions organizations keep asking us to pray as they evaluate appropriate relief response; top physical priorities remain getting fuel, housing, clothing, food, water, and medicine to survivors. Pray with relief teams as they serve with national believers to relieve suffering and grow a fierce love for fellow Japanese who are one of the largest unreached people groups in the world.
One Japanese pastor characterized the Japanese Church as being mostly concerned with increasing numbers rather than faithfully proclaiming the Gospel and demonstrating the love of Christ.
The Missions Committee at GBC will be sending an initial gift to World Vision Japan to help provide life-saving aid to the people of Japan. In addition, through contacts and friends at GBC, we will seek to gift local ministries in the effected area, helping them show God’s love.
Pray for the people of Japan; ask God to spare the lives of those still in danger. Pray for relief teams and the Japanese church to be God’s agents of love and mercy. Pray for God’s power, demonstrated in Jesus’ death and resurrection, to soften and open hearts to His love.
“Jesus said...I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever believes in me will never die.”
John 11:25,26.
